Nanga Parbat, lying on the borderline between Pakistan and India is known as King of Mountains. It is the world’s 9th highest mountains standing at 8125m. Nanga means naked and Parbat means mountain. The mountain is locally known by its Tibetan name Diamer or Deo Mir, meaning "huge mountain. It forms the western anchor of the Himalayan Range and is the westernmost eight-thousander. It is separated from the Karakoram by the mighty Indus River. The first expedition to Nanga Parbat was British expedition led by A. F. Mummery in 1895 but it was first climbed in 1953 by a joint Austrian - German Expedition. Hermann Buhl made the final ascent in a tortuous 41 hours solo ordeal without oxygen. Nanga Parbat claimed 31 lives before it was conquered in 1953.Nanga Parbat’s normal route is not extremely technical, but it’s long and exposed. Mountaineers have tried to ascent its summit through different routes but only few lucky ones have succeeded.

Facts: Nanga Parbat is usually climbed in June-July in mostly cloudy weather.  Our Imagine Nepal's team made First Autumn Summit in 2017-October-02. There is deep snow and high chance of avalanches in June-July but it is completely different in September-October. Autumn season is best time for climbing Nanga Parbat because there is no risk of avalanche and climbers don't have to face deep snow at all. Also weather in September- October is more sunny with clear skies.
